Wall Painting

As per planning there will 10 nos. of places to be identified for Wall painting and the wall painting should be portrait at the common places like the wall of Anganwadi, panchyat office, youth club, local market places, road side walls and middle places of the village. The theme of the wall paintings is about the “7 messages on complementary feeding of a Child after six months”.

Development of IEC material

As per the need of pregnant mothers and adolescent girls we have developed two IEC materials related to Ante Natal Care, Adolescent Health. One (ANC) is in Sadri Language and other (Adolescent Health) is in Oriya.

Village Level Focus Group Meeting with Pregnant and Lactating mothers

Total 53 nos. of Focus Group meetings with Pregnant and Lactating Mothers had been organized at the village level. In each FGD 10-12 participants had participated. The major topic of the meetings were Anti Natal Care and Exclusive Breast Feeding of the Child (0-6 months), Nutritional Food for mothers and child, Consume IFA tablets.

The major topics covered under Anti Natal Care were:
  • Timely Registration.
  • Received TT.
  • Participate in VHND.
  • Received 3 ANC check ups.
  • Proper fooding & rest.
Topics coved under Exclusive Breast Feeding of the Child (0-6 months).
  • Colostrums feeding within 1 hour of birth.
  • Exclusive breast feeding to the child up to 6 months.
  • Methods of breast feeding.
The major topics covered under Nutritional Foods.
  • Eat 4 full meal daily for a pregnant mother and a lactating mothers.
  • After six months baby should eat homemade food.
  • Take THR from AWC and eat it regularly.
  • Come and eat egg weakly twice in AWC.
  • Practicing Hand washing before taking food.

During the field visit 36 nos. of Pregnant Mothers and 19 nos.Lactating Mothers were identified by the project staff. All the identified pregnant & lactating mothers were counseled about the Ante Natal Care and Infant Young Child Feeding by the staff by home visit.

Training to Adolescent Girls

Adolescent Training Programme on Adolescent Reproductive Sexual Health and Life Skill Education was organized different phases in the project. Total 98 adolescent girls were covered through the training. The main objectives of the trainings were to improve the nutrition and health status of Adolescent girls within the age group of 11 to 18 years and also to create awareness about their health, personal hygiene, nutrition and family welfare and management.

The main topic of the trainings were Needs &challenges of the Adolescent, Profile of Adolescent, Needs for life skills in day to day life, Physiology of Menstruation, Hygiene during Menstruation, Life skill & Adolescent Reproductive Sexual Health, Conception & Contraception methods, Nutrition, STI/ RTI, HIV/AIDS etc. The methods used in the training were Group Discussion, Game, Role play, Storytelling etc.

Facilitate Saturday session of Kishori Samuha at village level
Counseling through Home visit to critical Pregnant and Lactating mothers

During the field visit 36 nos. of Pregnant Mothers and 19 nos.Lactating Mothers were identified by the project staff. All the identified pregnant & lactating mothers were counseled about the Ante Natal Care and Infant Young Child Feeding by the staff by home visit.

Facilitate the monthly GKS meeting at the village level

Total 24 nos. of Gram Kalyan Samiti meetings had been facilitated by the project staff. For the last 4 months staffs are engaged in updating the GKS record maintenance.

Identification of Malnourished Child

Total 79 nos. of malnourished children are identified in the project area.

After the identification of the 79 nos. of malnourished children the project staffs has counselled 32 mothers who have malnourished child. The major points of the counselling processes were about the complementary feeding of the child, Feeding process, health and hygiene.

Training to Staff on GKS

Project staffs were oriented on Gaon Kalyana Samiti in two phases at SEWAK. Key learning of the staff from the training were about the formation of GKS, aims/objective of GKS, what is GKS, Members of GKS and their role ,responsibility, how to maintain the records ,what is village health plan, preparation of Village Health Plan.

Awareness meeting cum Quiz competition for mother & mother in laws on child care

Two programmes on Awareness meeting cum Quiz Competition for mothers and mother in laws were held. In the programmes the HW (F), AWWs measured the weight of all children (0-12 months) and checked their regularity in Immunization and VHND days to saw their Mamata Cards. During the programmes awareness meetings were conducted on child health like Immunization, Infant Young Child Feeding, Care during Pregnancy, Services of Anganwadi for mothers and child etc Quiz competitions were also held for mother and mothers in laws. The winner has received prizes from the guests.

Training to GKS members on NRHM entitlements
phases of training programme for the Gaon Kalyan Smaiti (GKS) members on NRHM Entitlements were organized in the project area. Major topics of the training were:
  • NRHM entitlements.
  • What is GKS.
  • Role of GKS.
  • Fund utilization.
  • Village Health Plan.
  • Identification of Village Health issues.
  • Upgradation of Swasthya Kantha.
Community Awareness meeting at Village Level

3 nos. of Community Awareness Meeting were organized at the village level. The subject of the meetings were about the basics orientation on the Mother & Child Health Project which is being implemented in the periphery villages of Lanjiberna. All the staffs of the project handled the meetings.

Village level Focus Group Discussion of Eligible Couple (Male)

A village Level Focus Group Discussion of Eligible Couple (Male) was organized at Dhaurada on 16 th Dec’13. Total 13 Eligible Couple had participated in the FGD. The discussion points were Family Planning measures and HIV/AIDS.

The major topics covered under Family planning were:-
  • Temporary Family Planning Measures like Condom, Contraceptive pills, Emergency Contraceptive pills etc.
  • Permanent Family Planning measures like Non Scalpel Vasectomy, Tubectomy.
  • Advantage and disadvantage of all Family Planning measures.
  • Symptoms & Causes of HIV/AID.
